      FAQs

Spot treatments tackle blemishes with high concentrations of active ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and tea tree oil, which work to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Many Korean pimple spot treatments also incorporate soothing ingredients like Centella Asiatica, aloe vera, propolis, and even snail mucin to help repair the skin barrier.

These powerful ingredients are sometimes delivered via hydrocolloid patches, which create a protective barrier and help to draw out moisture, drying open zits as a result.

Blemish patches and spot treatments are essentially the same thing. Both are used to treat individual pimples or blemishes and can be found as gels, creams, or hydrocolloid patches.

This differs from acne cream, which is meant for application to broader areas of the face and generally contains a lower concentration of active ingredients. We recommend this solution if you are breaking out in multiple areas.

It depends on the type of spot treatment you’re using.

      • Pimple patches should be changed every six hours or whenever they turn white—this means they’ve absorbed the maximum amount of oil and impurities, so leaving them on too long reduces their effectiveness.
      • Cream or gel Korean spot treatments with potent ingredients like salicylic acid should be applied once or twice a day. Overusing them can dry out or irritate your skin.

However, if your skin feels overly dry or sensitive, it’s time to give the treatments a break!

Spot treatments work best before moisturizer so that active ingredients can directly target your blemish without any barriers. Apply it right after cleansing and toning, let your skin fully absorb it, and then follow up with your moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.

However, if you’re using a pimple patch, apply it after cleansing, before your toner and moisturizer, so it sticks properly and can work its magic without interference.

We don’t recommend it! Overloading your skin with too many active ingredients can backfire. Instead of zapping that one stubborn zit, you could end up with a big, red, irritated patch that’s even worse to deal with. This irritation might trigger deep hyperpigmentation that takes forever to fade.

Stick to one Korean pimple spot treatment at a time and let it do its thing!

It depends on the product and the severity of the pimple. Pimple patches can shrink whiteheads overnight, while treatments with salicylic acid or tea tree oil may take a few days to a week to fully clear up a breakout.

If you’ve popped a pimple (we see you!), a hydrocolloid pimple patch can dry it out within a few hours. Just remember to change your patch regularly to prevent sebum and bacteria buildup. Otherwise, you’ll give that pimple a second chance at life!

Tread carefully! Most treatments already contain potent exfoliating or antibacterial ingredients like salicylic acid (a BHA) and tea tree oil. Layering them with harsh actives can be very irritating and leave you with redness, peeling skin, or, even worse, breakouts due to a compromised moisture barrier.

To prevent this, try using spot treatments on different nights than your retinol or strong exfoliants, or stick to gentler, hydrating patches. It's a great time to focus on calming your skin, too!
